Sticks and Stones Construction was started by two friends with over ten years experience in commercial and residential construction. Dali Bohacik and Adam Gorman have a passion for building homes which push the boundaries in both design and construction methods. Dali and Adam are always willing to take on projects with clients, architects and designers who want to see their ideas come to life – no matter how difficult or unproven.
“For Sticks and Stones, the client comes first as we understand that building your dream is not only exciting but also highly stressful. Great trust is given to your builder so your experience is very important to us, as we want it to be a positive one.“ Dali Bohacik
The range of work undertaken by Sticks and Stones has predominately been personal projects designed by architects, for architects. Dali and Adam work together with their clients to ensure a high level of design integrity is always achieved.
Dali and Adam were engaged to undertake a finely detailed and highly energy efficient project for architect/owner Mick Fischer-Brunkow in Melbourne’s Bayside suburb of Cheltenham. A new insertion was designed within an existing 1970’s unit. It houses the laundry and bathroom, the kitchen to the west and the living room storage wall to the east. Clad in hoop pine plywood panelling, the ‘pod’ is a beautifully crafted element making clever use of the unit’s modest space.
Sticks & Stones undertook the construction of a small holiday home for architect Allison Hopper. A complex project for its remote location near Wilson’s Promontory, a very wet winter and an existing weathered steel structure, underpinned the simplicity of the design outcome.
This 6.5 x 6.5m two level cube sited on the edge of a dam, only accessible by a slender land bridge, appears like a lantern within the landscape. Our team worked closely with Allison and partner Simon, to create their vision.
RMA Architecture contracted Sticks and Stones Construction to undertake an alteration – addition to a terrace in West Melbourne. The tight space and close proximity of the neighbouring properties made this project an exciting challenge. With some clever engineering and imaginative design resulted to an exciting space to live.
Sticks and Stones work closely with trusted design partners in order that clients can experience a seamless design and build process.
At each design milestone, Sticks and Stones provide costings to ensure the project is tracking to the client’s budget. Specific elements of the plan can be adjusted to suit, whilst maintaining the integrity of the whole design approach.
The D&C delivery system allows for an integrated approach where the skills of builder and designer combine to ensure quality architecture.
